  • 1/4 cup oil
  • 1 small onion
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 1/4 tsp. basil
  • 1 Tbsp. oregano
  • 1 Tbsp. fennel seed
  • 1 Tbsp. chopped parsley
  • 1 qt. canned tomatoes
  • 1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
  • 1 1/2 lbs. ground beef
  • 1/2 lb. Italian sausage
  • 6-8 lasagna noodles
  • 1/2 lb. cottage cheese
  • 1/2 lb. cream cheese (soft)
  • Grated Parmesan cheese


Lightly saute onion and garlic in oil. Add meat, brown. Add all other ingredients except noodles and cheese. Simmer for 45 minutes or longer until thick. Cook lasagna noodles. Mix together cottage cheese and cream cheese and add a little milk to this mixture so that it can be spread. Arrange a layer of cooked noodles in greased casserole pan. Spread on some sauce and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Add some cheese mixture. Repeat layers, ending with cheese mixture and grated Parmesan cheese. Bake at 325 degrees F for 40-50 minutes or until bubbly.
